I’ll start off the movie review section with my most recent watched movie, that being Friends with Benefits. Now, you may go into this movie thinking, “Oh joy, another romantic comedy.” Yes, it is a romantic comedy, but it’s not just another one. Almost immediately, you begin to form a bond to not one, but both of the main characters; in this case, Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. Their characters are so realistic and equally charming that you can’t help but like them both as their respective characters and them as actors. Sure, it doesn’t necessarily add anything new to the dried out rom-com formula, but it does everything so perfectly. The chemistry between Mila and Justin is so inexplicably adorable and the laughs are constant. The plot is overplayed, but at least Friends with Benefits pulls it off well. It’s fast-paced, glamorous, smart, sexy, and more than mildly amusing. It’s the best romantic comedy of the year and maybe even of the past several years. I strongly recommend watching this, especially if you’re able to cuddle up next to a significant other and enjoy a few laughs and maybe even a few cries together.
Friends with Benefits gets a well-deserved “Own It”.
